I started this history blog to celebrate my late father, Herbert Bingham Mead. He served in the U.S. 1st Marine Division in China 1945-1946. His wish was for me to research and publish a book on those extraordinary days when he and his comrades were stationed in Tianjin and Beijing, China. Today we salute the service and bravery of those extraordinary men -and the people of China who endured and befriended them. Semper Fi!

Tien Hsin Cheng on Hatamen Street, Beijing
This is another business card from my father's records of his time spent in China. The establishment was located on Hatamen Street in Beijing. He did not include any photos of this place, but I did find on the site Images of Asia this picture of Hatamen Gate, taken before 1949.

Just did a blog post about the famous Dexing cloisonne workshop, featuring the ad your dad collected.

Your dad's ad seems to be the only piece of evidence that this important art workshop persisted until after World War II.
