I started this history blog to celebrate my late father, Herbert Bingham Mead. He served in the U.S. 1st Marine Division in China 1945-1946. His wish was for me to research and publish a book on those extraordinary days when he and his comrades were stationed in Tianjin and Beijing, China. Today we salute the service and bravery of those extraordinary men -and the people of China who endured and befriended them. Semper Fi!

Happy New Year of the Rooster
Greetings and Happy New Year!
To one and all, near and far I wish you good health, lasting prosperity, safe travels and good luck.
This auspicious time not only marks the beginning of the Year of the Rooster. It also marks the first year anniversary of the Marvels of China: Pathways to the Pacific Rim Show on 1490 WGCH and anywhere on WGCH.com.
This is the weekly radio show that in many ways started as a result of this tie to history and to China.
For me, this has been one of the most amazing journeys I could have imagined. I have met some of the most extraordinary people who transcend culture and distance. You have enriched my life, and I hope that I and this weekly show have done the same for you.
It has been my sincerest pleasure to have you along -and there's much more to come in the months ahead.
Best wishes for the holidays. May you enjoy an abundance of happiness and peace as the Year of the Rooster begins to unfold.
Semper Fi,
Jeffrey Bingham Mead
