Remembering and Reflecting: Dad's Passing Four Year Later

Holy and Loving Father: It was four years ago that you called my Dad home. I want to thank you for making him such a vital part of my life. I am not sure I was the best son to him. I should have done better. I’ve dedicated this day -and everyday to come- to celebrating his life and the many gifts I received from him. That includes many gifts I took for granted. Please forgive me. I am so sorry I could not be there when he went home to you. In the midst of our hectic lives, Father, please help us hear the saving words we so need to hear. Help us to find the courage to live in your kindness, in your service, in your truth, and in your love. Amen.

Today would have been my Dad's 90th birthday. Before I went to sleep last night I was reflecting and remembering so much.

Chiang Kai-shek's Portrait Above the Meridian Gate, Forbidden City (November, 1945)

I have been told from time to time that photos of Chiang Kai-sek's portrait above the Forbidden City's Meridian Gate are rare.

This is a photo my father took of that famous portrait. It is dated November 18, 1945. I've used iPhoto to bring out some of the details. The original photos is quite small.
